layer and layer

I'm not really one to 'seasonally decorate'..instead I do love the natural layers that envelope us with added texture and pattern. Warm tones, bits of black, gold and wood accessories..mmm, so good!

hint of black

Here it is ( in all it's wrinkled glory ;) sorry.. the new black Ikea duvet cover. I have to say I love it! We also updated our window treatments in the bedroom and got the doors painted black, it's been a productive few days! I'll post pictures!

why didn't I think of this before?!

We needed a few more bins for the girls playroom, so we headed out to Ikea for a quick and easy dinner and a little shopping. As we are walking through the store we found some inexpensive black out roll blinds for our bedroom (yay!) and carried on through the bedding. Now it's been some time since I have had a cover on our duvet. I cannot find one I like! In the winter I add my swans island blanket and cable throw over top, so it's only in the summer months it's bare. Well as we were going through the bedding, as a joke I walked up to a black duvet cover and said to Kevin " ha, I bet you'd love this!" totally as a joke. And then it hit me.. it's perfect! We have cream and white and wood tones and it totally needs the black to ground it! Even better was the $39.99 King price tag! Don't worry, I'm not using the coordinating pillow cases that came with it, it's just going to be folded all crisp and grounding at the bottom of the bed.

three things, the importance of black in a space

( well, dark brown in this case! )

For me it's a necessity. How about you? What's a must have in your spaces?

this is why I adore a little bit of black in a space-

right?!
Thank you all so much for taking the time to talk headaches! I cannot even tell you how much I appreciate it. I have an appointment with my chiropractor tomorrow, eye doctor next week, and we have an appointment with our family doctor tomorrow for Lauren, so I may try to sneak my headaches into conversation :) Your comments were SO helpful and made me think of new reasons.. like Gluten, my youngest has an intolerance and we haven't figured out who she got it from, they say it's hereditary? I've been drinking water all day, working on my computer as little as possible, and going for walks to get away from my desk. Thanks again, you guys rock.

fresh blooms and a hint of black

I can't even tell you how many times I have looked at this gorgeous kitchen. It's perfect. Of course I love the lighting, I have those too -

Crisp black walls, ornate chairs, great light-

the sweetest table setting-

There is so much about this space I adore, the natural wood, crisp white, fresh tulips-

More proof of how I love a touch of black in a space.
