1 + 1 = two of my favorite things

In a prelude to the January 2012 issue that features Jenna Lyons, Canadian House and Home has paired up a few of their favorite rooms with J Crew looks. Yup.. two of my favorite things ( H&H + J Crew! )

great space

This gorgeous family home is such a great example that you can add bold injections of color to spaces in your home, they don't have to be everywhere for your home to be cohesive. A stark black wall in the dining room, with a bright fresh white kitchen, black and white in the bedroom and gorgeous little hints of color add such warmth and personality!

Eames lounge chair.
It just looks so comfortable, like every stress would be taken away. Never mind you could mix it into almost any decor style. Gotta love that. Anyone have one?

three things, the importance of black in a space

( well, dark brown in this case! )

For me it's a necessity. How about you? What's a must have in your spaces?

round

I have a round dining table and I love it. It gets a little tricky trying to feed more than 4 people as we don't have a formal dining room, but oh well! I guess these pictures are telling me I also like a form of bench seating with it...

neglectful

I have been a terrible blogger this past week.. so sorry! I had my laptop break, didn't have the patience to blog from my phone, AND had to get ready for my Stella & Dot launch trunk show. So that's done ( it was AWESOME! ) thank you to all who attended, and thanks to my sweet husband who bought me a new laptop today, I promise I'll be back around. x

best beige

For me, it's simple and calm. That's so what I need to decompress after a day's work, kids and activities. A quiet space of beige :)

canadian house & home, Lindsey Bond's space, and a bedroom by Michael Angus (also via ch&h )
This nightstand was in the back of my mind when I redid the ikea dresser. I'm still so smitten with it!

I did a little blog clean up ( simplify!) and have started pages for contributors, features and little projects around the house. If you want a peek, they're all under the header. x

well done

Well Cameron MacNeil, I have to say I adore this kitchen makeover, as well as the fact that your designs are all of a sudden right up my alley. Hopefully you know how much I liked last months living room. I think we could be pretty good friends-
Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends :) For us Canadians, it's just Thursday at work! Enjoy your day!

well done

I am simply stated, seriously in love with this space. I can't count the number of times I have looked at it and dissected it. It is so right up my alley. Perfect. Great pieces, simply and subtly put together. Oh man, it's such a great mix. Cameron Mac Neil, you got this room so right. Well done :)

how far would you go?

craving a girly space? There are alot of ways to add a bit of feminine into a room. Some are subtle, others not.

Moroccan lighting, ornate headboard, and a glittering bust. oh, and a bit of fur..

a kitchen that is beyond perfection-

french luxury in the bath-

poufs, fresh cut flowers, a daring blue, and the most feminine lines-

Have you injected any girly into your space? I'd love to know where..

three things, staying true to your style

Suzanne Dimma, Editor in chief of a Canadian favorite, Canadian House & Home has a truly lovely home.. imagine how hard it is to stick to your style footprint with all the inspiration around her!

her back entry, I love the draped table

the island, carpet and fancy lighting really make the space come into it's own..

a quiet little spot to post your inspiration, love this idea, it's subtle-

you can see the whole tour of her home here, and in the new issue of CH&H you'll see her home decorated for the holidays.

three things

It's been a few years since Sharon Mimrans living room was featured in Canadian House and Home- but even though it's been years, I continue to be inspired by it over and over. It's something about the mix.

This kitchen, designed by Linda Reeves and her team for a hospital lottery home has baskets as cabinetry.. have to say I love that-

and what are your thoughts about a table in place of an island? I do like the feel of this kitchen-
