can you relate?!

Do you ever pop all around the blogosphere and get overwhelmed? I get overwhelmed +  jealous in that ::
a. every blog has crazy cool graphic design ( I want that! )
b. smartly pulled together roundups with fancy words and more graphic design ( so pretty! )
c. I have absolutely no idea how they do that
d. umm you cool new bloggers follow editorial calendars for what you post ( umm you're awesome )
e. you pay attention to all your blog stats ( and know how to target audiences )
f. some of you appear to spend hours on individual posts. How do you do that?! How do you do your job and take care of your kids?! I have to do my posts in 5 minutes.. !
g. did I mention lovely bright white blogs with amazing design?! ( did I mention I want that?! )
h. okay rant done.

I admire you all.. obviously ( ALOT.. YOU'RE WAAAY COOL ). Just needed to get it off my chest. It's very intimidating. I'm very happy that a few of you still stop over here to see my random thoughts and not so perfectly pretty pulled together posts. I'm random, I post random things and thoughts and ideas.. I always will. No schedule, no scheduled times, no graphics, no hour long written posts. I admire those of you who have made blogging your business.. I let my blog lead me to starting 3 little businesses and I thank all you amazing readers who believe in what I do :)

It's so tough to make blogging a regular scheduled event. I always envy the beautifully written post. But I have also always loved your graphic designs and way your blog looks. I thought you had it together... you do!! :)

girl. first of all, your blog is adorbs so you have no need to freak out! lol. and secondly, yes. i think it is human nature to compare. but i think the best blogs are those who stay true to who they are. be you and you will touch the readers who like that! i love your blog. keep it up. and you can admire other blogs but do not shoot yours down. :)

It's funny to read this post for me... I'm a graphic & web designer for my 'real' job so I change up the design of my blog all the time. But sometimes when i visit you, my impression is that you're super cool (much cooler than me) and have everything together! What, with the whole gallery wall thing... I wouldn't have thought you had blog envy at all!
I've been working on a new blog design over the last week or so and I'm just rolling it out as I get the time to complete it now. If you want some help with yours, shoot me an email.

Hell to the yes!

I've been reading blogs for years but only just started my own this February. Just based on that--that I wasn't a pioneer who started blogging back in 2007 or something--I feel like a failure.

I have to keep reminding myself why I'm doing this and that my motivations are probably/definitely different from those of the blogs that I frequent. But it's still stupidly difficult not to compare yourself to everyone else and end up feeling crazy inadequate. We're only human.

FWIW, I love your blog. :)

You have a fabulous blog! And I don't follow a schedule either. I too feel your angst, I get it. I love the new graphics too and have no idea how they do it. And I don't know who my target audience is either - where would you look for that - in Analytics? My blog is supposed to be fun for me, a creative outlet and when it becomes a chore, then something needs to change. Sarah, you are creative and have a great mind - that is what keeps people coming here, not what cute graphics you have. It is you and your content!

Who cares about all those other blogs? They are all the SAME which is why I love reading blogs like yours, because it's real, and you have great taste. I always feel the same with my blog, inadequate, but then I remember that everyone likes something different. And I do it because I love it. Everything else will follow. You're doing an amazing job. Keep it up.

I agree with all your points- I love that you are a mom like me and there are definitely priorities- but you have done a great job keeping up with your blogging! I moved in the fall with two little ones and it was hard for me to keep up!
