Both of our girls have big beds. Not because we wanted them to have gargantuan beds for their size. They out grew their cribs, and as we transitioned to our king, we had spare beds ( and honestly with little little kids, not too many overnight guests ;)
I want both my kids to be cozy in their rooms. I have always been a firm believer in calm spaces for bedtime. I like a great comfortable bed to go to sleep on, of course a child will too! But I found trying to make a big bed suitable for a little one takes some layers.. to shrink it.. here's Calleighs start to finish-
I don't have a spec of bedding in this house that is a set, other than plain sheets. So our rooms evolve and switch around. Calleigh has a plain white fitted sheet, I don't use a flat sheet for her.. too much to get tangled. I start by folding a white blanket near the bottom and tuck it in-

This is so sweet! The bed is adorable, and your ideas are great!!! You've definitely created a calm space for bedtime! :) Xo.
looks so clean, simple and beautiful!
I love how you layered the blankets and tucked in the duvet in the middle of the bed- it looks soooo cozy and pretty. I'm also really loving your daughter's blind- gorg!!
Have a great weekend! xo
just for kids?!...I want to cozy up there! You have inspired me to take a closer look at the 'makeup' of our kids beds.xo
Very cozy..she must love it. I think I might paint that headboard all over or at least add chalk board overed paint or fabric covered inserts to the panels to make it a bit younger and girlie.
Nice job
This looks so cozy - I want to jump right in! (Especially with this rain we're having!)
Much Love,
Melissa
So fabulous and so cosy! Both my girls sleep in fulls, so I totally get the need for layers and fluff!
I don't have a lot of sheets that match either. I have always picked them up on sale at the Ralph Lauren outlet, or the old Linens and things. Ralph doesn't believe in matched sets, either. When my daughter went away to school, she asked for sheets that matched! I thought I was being really creative and Martha-like. You can always use allergy proof mattress and box spring covers or the asthma kids. I have them on all my beds and pillows, and it makes a huge difference. Keeps everything really clean also. Ann
What a beuatiful bed and room, my 4 year old daughter would love that. I really like the headboard too. G

Love this room! It's so feminine and sophisticated! Angie xo
Beautiful space! I have been looking for a light fixture like the one shown in your photo... where did you get it? -Sara
Hi Sara, the light is from Restoration Hardware, the kids section!
That is one lucky four year old! What a gorgeous bed. Love that shade!
Will you come over and make up my bed?? This looks so pretty and cozy. Lucky girls!
My grandparents gifted me a queen size bed when I was two (white with swirly gold accents...very fake french, and I slept in it until I was 15. The pictures of me at two in the big bed are kind of funny...the extra space for Barbie's and a zoo's worth of stuffed animals was the best!
Happy Halloween!

I even want that bed :)
(Vintage handbag giveaway if you’re interested ;) )
Loved this post.It is always great to find new ways to make a bed look cozy. Cute bedroom too by the way.
That room is P-R-E-C-I-O-U-S!!! NICE JOB :)
You are so creative.....I would love for you to create a post, laying out the essential steps in putting together a 'grown up' bed....I sometimes feel like I need to be enlightened as I am in the habit of doing the same old thing every morning when I dress the bed back up for the day :)
