black + white.. classic or drama?

The living room of last years Toronto lotto home designed by Linda Reeves and her team from Canadian House & Home would suit me just perfectly,

while the other side of me longs for a space with a little flair. Do you do drama? How have you successfully pulled it off?

Of course, I like a space with a little bit of flair:)...but I do like more streamlined interiors too!

Drama for me consists of adding red in some way to pretty much every room. :0)

Oh I love this! Why can't you have BOTH flair and drama with a black and white room? My parents bathroom is mostly black and white (floors, walls, fixtures, towels) but their shower curtain and soap dishes are all the same funky little colorful print. It contrasts really well surprisingly!

I bought a ticket and toured that home and it was incredible!! I couldn't believe the people who won put it on the market right after winning it!!

Wow, I like the wooden chandelier! I'm more of a drama girl so I would go for drama :)

I like a neutral space where I can add colour in accessories. I'm debating on colour for our powder room. I think it's the only place i would do it on the walls.

Oh..I too could make this home. I have loved that chandelier since it first made the design scene. I do like some drama. I painted the fireplace wall of our living room which is two stories high with large windows on each side a lacquered black. My hopes were to make it disappear so the focus was the swimming pool outside. It is definitely fun to have at least one 'wow' factor!

Flair is good ..lol. ( :

I do drama with wallpaper and unexpected color combinations. I adore a little decor tension in a room.

I love both pictures. But for me I don't like things to look too perfect. Every space needs a little edge(drama) and that is the
personality that makes it your space and no one else's. Great post!!

Hmmmm ... good question! I added drama to my 70's modern home with a two story tall acid green accent wall in my entryway. The color is repeated in a couple great horizontal walls also, but you can only see one at a time. I suppose the flair came in when I added a 30" X 30" black & white portrait of my husband making a funny face. Let me tell you -- people KNOW when they've entered our house. LOL

Black and white is always classic to me but you know how i love it. If you saw my entry hall floor and guest bath you know that I truly do,Kathysue

I don't do 'drama' very well. I'm more in muted colours and soft accents. But, that doesn't mean I don't love it, it just doesn't work well in my house :)
