one room, one shop

( Click on image to enlarge! )

I love when one store, in this case Jayson Home and Garden, carries pieces that can complete a room without looking like everything came from the same place. I'm loving this dining combination.

Thanks again to the lovely Marianne at Style for Living for featuring little ol me in her abc series.. it was alot of fun!

softening my view

For a while now I have wanted to put some trees outside our dining room window. We are very close to our neighbors house, and I am not a fan of staring at siding. Thanks Dad for bringing them down and planting them today :)

The space:

my view now.. sweet little trees that will soon fill in and brighten my view!

My mom has lush greenery outside of her windows and I just love it.

a real charmer

A while back I came across the exterior of this darling bungalow. I even included it in a post. I was smitten.. it has all the charm + grace I could ever want from a home. I was thrilled to find more of this gorgeous home designed by Seattle architect Bosworth Hoedemaker.

Mt. Baker traditional exterior

beige and cream, details in the woodwork + trim, hydrangeas, window boxes and a lovely entry

Mt. Baker traditional bathroom

a crisp white bathroom, I'm crazy about the flooring!

Mt. Baker traditional dining room

Mt. Baker traditional dining room

built in cabinets carry into the dining room.. time worn candle sticks, unique lighting and a table on casters-

Mt. Baker traditional kitchen

a nice transition between the two spaces.. I like how the homeowner has displayed items toward the room, look at the books and picture, it caps the room.

under mount sink, gorgeous curve on the tap.

and then .. shelving in the window, open shelving above. Is that a dutch door I spy.. sigh.

I am pretty crazy about this home! It's just the size I like, with great features-

tropical punch

I love adding these two elements to a space. Woven materials.. in baskets or blinds and leafy palms. For me, they complete my space. What do you have to have in your space?

wishing + hoping

If I had my way, I'd love a home with a charming exterior like this one-

a desk like this would suit me just fine-

a dining room that invites you in-

and come on, couldn't you just spend the day there?

Nothing wrong with wishing. ( the song from my best friends wedding ( the movie ) just popped in my head - you know the one :)

the table switch

Spent Sunday making a few changes around the house -
The big table was packed away and the black pedestal took it's place..still sorting all the details and getting comfortable with the changes :)
Hope your weekend was wonderful!

around the house

Do you ever get something in your head that you just have to try? Here's what I had to try last weekend. I am finding our big table too big. So I moved the console, took down the drapes, and moved the little black table over. The table is a little too tiny... but it may be leading to a change. I love the brightness -
I put it all back, I can't commit to taking the table away. I know if we take it apart and move it down stairs..if I change my mind, my sweet husband who brought me flowers today will get a little annoyed going back and forth. So for now, it stays a thought.

newest update

Almost a year (Oct.3/08) since we moved into our new house.
I swear it evolves constantly. Always thinking of new vignettes, new ideas, better storage or furniture layout ideas.
It's a challenge to sometimes achieve the look you want with 2 little kids, but it's getting easier. My girls are fantastic..we never fully childproofed our home. Cabinets and gates on the stairways yes, but we never did eliminate decorative item on tables. We eliminated a coffee table, and went with an ottoman. You can see the table is pushed against the wall...more clearance for running, without hitting the table!
The entrance, which is small, has always bugged me. I have tried everything with it. But this makes me happy! It's simple and roomy, clean and uncluttered.
So this is our new entry + dining area. A little moulding, some paint + a patient husband and we have a whole new look. Gosh it makes me smile.
