open or closed?

Beautiful examples of great open shelving in the kitchen. Definitely one for the open argument. ( No I'm not renovating.. I just love the look, but would probably make myself crazy rearranging pieces all the time! How about you?! )

  2. LOVE the look, but not sure I could handle it in my own house, I'd also rearrange too much!!

  3. I'm a greedy guts ~ so I like both!

Hide the junk in the closed bits, and have some open shelves to constantly play with, in endless whimsical arrangements.

Love the brick floor in this kitchen, or maybe its tile that looks like brick? Either way, it's fab.

  4. I love this look and open style, however, I just don't know how I could handle the dust. I seriously swear there is more dust in Italy than elsewhere. I have a theory it's because people throw everything outside their balconies here and most people live in apartments and condos so it's all floating in the air.

    Have a great weekend Sarah!

  6. I have some open shelving in the dining room I love but as for the kitchen I have found that closed is the way for me. Just painted my kitchen cabinets and having the doors back on is so clean and fresh.

  8. Definitely open. I think open display cases add so much character- especially if you have something great to display. I'm loving that table in the middle of the kitchen, too. I did a post about that concept last week!

    Have a fabulous weekend!

  9. I've had both - open in my last house and closed in this one and I can say I love them both which means I am of no help at all :)

  11. I love the open look. In my old kitchen {pre-kids} I had open shelving & loved it. I loved to display things & stay very organized... The Virgo in me! Now with kids I think A few closed cabinets are best. Great pics!!!!

  16. I love the open shelving. I have found that you need to have lots of closed to go along with though because you never put anything ugly or functional on those open shelves.

  22. I have always been closed but lately I too have been drawn to open shelving, it can look so chic. But I do agree, my OCD would kick into overdrive x
