Sarah I did a post called, Have we gone too far? I used this as an image. In this case I say Yes we have gone too far!!! Not a fan of this but I am a fan of Kelly's total out of the box design, it is not that I always like it but I can appreciate it in most cases, but not in this one. here is the post I wrote. I have a couple of other images that are questionable too.
But the cow-in-drag rug would have to go. I'm still terribly disappointed in La Wearstler for using a zebra-stenciled cowhide rather than the real thing.
I really love it...I saw someone do their own version of this with paint vs the wallpaper and they did a smashing job! And it was cheap...not sure I could do it myself I doubt my art skills :)
Think all her stuff is like this. Totally mesmerising and great in magazine photos but many many bits and bobs in the same space. Always love her couches but then she adds those enormous crystals jobbies. However I'm glad she's around because we do need that theatricality!
yes!!! and given the fact that i believe it's a hallway/entrance/pass-thru kind of a room it would be easier to live with bc you would only ever have to walk thru it...not sit in it. not sleep in it. not eat in it. not poop in it...etc..
I could absolutely do something like this. So much so that this paper has inspired a project that I will hopefully be able to share with you sooner rather than later. It totally grew on me though. The first time I saw it I thought she'd fallen and hit her head on a rock.
I appreciate Kelly Wearstler but sometimes I think some of it is done just to be outlandish. Once a designer travels that road I feel like they are trying too hard to be original. Don't get me wrong, I like most of her stuff but this is too much especially for a residential space. Nightclub? maybe... Lindsay

Oh yes, quite happily. The colour is soft, even the design is bold ~ a clever contrast.
ReplyDeleteNope, too much for me
ReplyDeleteThe zebra skin yes, the walls I would have to think about!
ReplyDeleteIn a heartbeat.

In a word "NO"
ReplyDeleteI can appreciate this room for it's creativity, but I definitely couldn't live in it myself!
ReplyDeleteI could do it in a bathroom maybe, but to have to look at this every time i walked in the house? Dont think so
ReplyDeleteI could today, but in 2 years, I would have changed my mind. Avant gard is only for the rich who can afford to change it on a whim.
ReplyDeletelove kelly wearstler but, uh, negatory. could not live with this, but sure do appreciate it. :)

ReplyDeleteFar too much. Don't like it AT ALL! I love, love, love most of what Kelly Wearstler does but sadly this goes over the line for me :( Nicolex
ReplyDeleteone word: Wow!!
ReplyDeleteUm... NO. This would drive me crazy. It reminds me too much of the types of things the kids draw on my walls.
ReplyDeleteI think I really could...the question is...what do the surrounding rooms look like?
ReplyDeleteI love Kellys work but this is a touch OTT for me personally

ReplyDeleteI don't like the zebra skin but yes I could love it even though it is not my style.
