I've spent this past winter deciding that I'd love to paint my interior doors. My initial thought is black. Second thought is my parents are going to be at my house this weekend, and well..dad might need a project ;) ( Mom, can you ask dad if he'll paint my doors?! ) Starting just with the main level of course, so that's only a few. Do you think black or something a little subtler? I like subtle, and I like black.

Mercy, I just LOVE the idea of internal doors painted black! Nicolex
What about a dark dark charcoal grey?
I like the contrast between the black doors and white walls. And the natural wooden floors in the last photo add even more elegance and the warmth I always look for in the interior design. Ada
go for it..looks sensational.
In these particular designs, black is perfect. My outdoor doors are painted black and i kept white for the interior. Painting is on my summer list to do...
Just last night I was working on post saying I want to paint all my interior trim and doors high gloss black....so I vote yes, go with the black :-)
I like black.
(Lucky you to have a dad that does "projects"!!)
:)
I do love black...but I am in love with a Farrow and Ball color called Mouses Back. I just recently did doors on a project in that color.
My neighbor just had several of her interior doors painted black and they look stunning...love the look!!
Would your dad mind coming here next? I happen to have a list, ha! Love the idea of painted interior doors, too!
What about charcoal? Love the black too though.. tough decision:)
I fully support this decision! Please show us when you've completed your downstairs doors!
I love painted interior doors, and black is my hands down favorite! If my vote counts, I say go for it!
I love, love, love painted doors ....... especially black. My front door is black. Black can typically go with anything.
so need to do this in my house!!!!
I wanted Appallacian Mountain(BM)..(brownish) or a dark grey ..my husband wanted black...we did black....
I am so happy it just makes the house zing...walls are Natural Linen (BM)...if you are 1/2 as happy as I am ..you will love it!
Love the idea and I too have wanted to do just that. But knowing we were eventually moving I chicken out. Go for it, and I agree with the others, a charcoal color would be fab too. What a great dad you have?!
Cheers ~ Deb
I'm a big fan of black doors. They're going to look awesome. And, I am a huge fan of spontaneous house projects :) All you need is some paint, a weekend, and a few willing participants and you've got yourself a party!!
Oh I really like painted doors also. What a Blessing your dad is!!
I am having all of the doors painted P&L Anubis at the Wexford II home and the Hubs and I are going back and forth about doing our house as well.
Every time I have done it we have always gone for a soft black with undertones that will work with the rest of the home...can't wait to see what you do!
We have dark doors and LOVE them! Mine are brown, but a very dark brown, almost black. It is an old Duon color - Burnt Umber DMV091.
If you have heaps of light in your home, go for black or a pretty charcoal gray. Love this look!
Your poor dad ;)
I love the idea of black or charcoal. I've been wanting to do this in my home so bad, hubby thinks it'll be too dark but I just think it looks chic chic chic!

You might be happier long-term if you go with a rich charcoal. I LOVE painted doors, way to go! I hope your daughter heals quickly, sorry to hear about that!
Definitely black- I did mine and although it was a pain in the butt to do (glossy black is hard) I love the result- considering moving on to my windows now.
A big YES from me! Love black doors, go for it. xo
I did it. BLACK BLACK BLACK! Dont try to do an off black black, I tried it and it looked awful.
Do it! You will love it! I just painted our French entry door black. It took no time at all and made a huge difference.
