well duh

Hopefully I'm not the only one who has a running list of things that should be done, fixed, moved... that's the story of my pouffs. For two years they have been in my girls rooms, and they've been sadly deflated. Everyday I say to myself fix these damn pouffs! Nope.. never did it. It was my recent trip to Seattle, and walking through a gorgeous home store with Marianne Simon that I spotted perfectly rounded pouffs..and they've stayed in my head. I could have those! Not sad deflated pouffs! Today I happened on a bag of packing peanuts and stuffed them to my hearts content..

They now sit at the end of my bed all gorgeously stuffed like these ones..as they should be! My stuffing mix.. packing peanuts + newspaper + old blankets. Fabulous. Smart. Don't wait two years ;)

I hope you all were blessed with the most wonderful Christmas day! I had an absolutely wonderful day with my family. It was just 5 of us for dinner and I used simple layers of linen, glass and soy candles to set our table...

a big ol Xmas pout-

Christmas is just around the corner! What are you all doing to get into the spirit of the season + celebrate?!

I'm trying my HARDEST to get festive, and I think I've told you before it's hard this year! Here's the thing.. everything's different this year.. My hubs sister + fam who are usually here over Xmas aren't coming until after Xmas ( which is totally cool, they need to do what's best for them! ) We used to go to | have them here ( my parents ) on Boxing Day, and that's obviously not happening.. ( insert sad..missing my Dad, but love having my Mom here ) My sister + her fam are 3 hours away.. I'm trying to think of things to do with the girls, but it just seems like our whole house can't get into it and I feel pretty awful. I guess I just want to be with family + friends and eat good food and drink good drinks and I want to have it all, ha! and I need to figure out how to make the best of what is this year.. Wow, that was a big ol pout- sorry for that! Ok..I'm off to get festive.. I hope, xo

house thoughts | powder room

I'm jumping up and down.. this started yesterday.. they've started our house!! Well, they're digging, but the good stuff is coming soon. It's gotten me thinking about all the details I've picked out and imagining them all together.

In the main floor powder room, I've switched out the standard wall mounted mirror slab for this mirror-

and instead of an over the sink mounted light, a ceiling pendant instead. Switching things up a bit :)

Here's the bath as shown in the showhome.. it's a little one-

Floor tile.. I love the wood grain, it's tonal and lovely!

a week in the life..

A week in my life.. daily peeks at the lovely Nate Berkus on my desk, kids tired and not feeling great, but not sick either ( fingers crossed ) bad sleeps, a tired mommy, leopard for a lunch date for sushi with the hubs, very cute streamer idea and a peek at the test kitchen reno from Chatelaine Magazine, an Aritzia package arrived today and I was wowed by the packaging! Christmas gifts for our fabulous teachers wrapped and ready to go to school, and me a little ( lot! ) layered up :)
