kid stuff

Miss Calleigh ( the 4 year old who is NOT sleeping very well lately ) had a few little changes to her room this weekend.

The headboard she has used to be ours. It was a wedding gift, and has been moved more times, so it's a little dinged up. I think I'd like to paint it. What do you think, a creamy white like her armoire or something different ( like a pale, pale pastel? )

( eek, bad pictures, crooked pillows.. ah, it's real life with two kids jumping on the bed while trying to take pictures :)

This little stool is a Pottery Barn bath stool, but not everything needs to be used for it's intended purpose. Calleigh has a queen bed, so a little stool is helpful, especially when her little sister wants to play up there with her. I picked up the pink fabric remnant at a thrift shop in Swift Current last February when I went out with Kevin, and I have finally figured out what to do with it. So tomorrow, the stool will be pink.

and a little gallery..

More kid stuff to come, Laurens room got dressed up a little too-

weekend plans

here

How's your weekend? Today was a bit of a write off for me. A little 4 year old decided to wake up at 4am and not go back to sleep. This is after I stayed up until just after 12am watching The Break Up on tv ( you know, the one with Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn ). I needed some down time. So me + 3 hours of sleep = not good.

So tomorrow I have a few things on my list-
A trip to home depot for a couple ferns to pop under a couple of glass domes I have. I love a bit of greenery around.
Calleigh has told us she would like to go to 16 stores tomorrow, so we'll see what we can do about that. No idea where she has come up with 16 :) We'll start our day out + about with a Tim Hortons coffee and see what the day holds.
xx

morning coffee

Either spot would do-

cheerful dishes, fresh flowers and a view. Yes please and thank you.

Have a happy + wonderful weekend my friends! xx

jens pick, laundry

This week I thought it would be nice to step outside of the rooms that get all of the attention, and take a peek inside some laundry spaces that I am loving.
Most of us have our laundry hidden away....I think it is time to give the hard working washer + dryer duo the attention the rest of our homes receive.
I am hard at work coming up with some solutions for our laundry area, which thankfully has great bones....lots of counter space for folding, cabinetry for storage, a double sink and a high ceiling...but it wreaks blah, and screams practical function....I want to pretty it up!

Enjoy these lovely laundry rooms....personally, I could spend all morning in any one of these with a steamy cup of tea and heaps of dirty clothes!

xo.

Dear Laura Day,

I like your style,

alot. It's lived in, kid friendly,

yet grown up.

you've included my favorite quatrefoil chair,

you've made toy storage look good and fit in, that's a huge task

and you have 'come over for a dinner party' space too,

Like I said, I like your style,

room crush

LOVE this childs room by Pieces owner Lee Kleinhelter.

lighting + a familiar photographer

As I was snooping through the gallery at Hinkley Lighting, which is gorgeous, I realized I recognized the images. Hmm, where have I seen these? Of course, it's Rob Brinson! I had a peek at his amazing photographs when I had my chat with Jill Sharp Brinson-

I love how the company used private homes ( and Rob Brinson's talent ) to show their product-
Seriously fabulous.
See honey, great lighting really does make a difference ;)
We'll hopefully find out today the results of our meeting....

lowcountry designer, Angie Hranowsky

Designer Angie Hranowsky. Her home in Charleston SC is brilliant. Have a look-

A modern home built in the 1970's gives off more of a 50's vibe.

I am crazy about every single piece of furniture in this room, set off by a brilliant violet rug-

mirrored console, fab gallery, not to mention the lighting-

magenta upholstery, and a gorgeous lady-

mellow yellow and more great lighting-

love open shelving in a kitchen, and a fabulous back splash-

add a little orange,

back to the brilliant magenta, and a table that I am still wishing I had bought at PB when I was there, a drum table very similar to this one-

great silhouettes and wallpaper, and a little cutie too-

brilliant outdoor space, lounge space, surfboards, and fabulous windows-

love , love, love.
I envy the use of color, different colors in different spaces. What a beautiful home.
I have the urge right now to rearrange + redecorate my whole home. Oh dear.. what the weekend may bring... what are you up to?
