surprise mommy ( holiday decor )

Here's what Kevin and I came home to after work tonight. The girls had painted paper ornaments that grandma cut out - and as grandma told us... it needed to be hung. Since the tree is not up yet, a garland style was decided upon. Well, I think it's just perfect. And even more perfect was the pride on their little faces when they showed us what they made. Maybe I'll just leave the christmas decorating to them :)

A home that has an almost dreamy interior in Atlanta - designer Jill Sharp Brinson has renovated a beautiful cottage with delightful spaces through out. The beams are spectacular, along with the hint of pink in the living room & the dramatic hanging lantern. Love the casualness of the throw over the banister, what a great nook to cozy up in!

Beautiful elements adorn the console, such lovely collections. A cozy little table to have your morning coffee, or an intimate spot for two, backed with shelving to display even more collections and found objects.

I have plans. The long term kind of plans. You've heard a few, the cottage, the high rise apartment with the views, and my own store. A little fabulous shop filled with lots of fabulous things. When my girls reach school age, then I will start to seriously consider making it a reality. Until then - planning. I adore this building that is for lease in South Hampton. If only I could find a charming lovely space like that here in Calgary :)

Whew. That's a good word. On Sunday my baby girl officially grew up, and out of her crib. Instead of whew, maybe sob would be a better word. I did. When I realized the crib was gone for good, never to be set up again.

I'm ok - really, I just had a moment.

Enter the terrible mattress on the floor stage. It's a little tough to make a room sweet with a big 'ol mattress on the floor, but here goes

Fun story: Kate Walsh hired the set director from Private Practice to decorate her home because she felt so comfortable in all the " layers" of her on set room. Love that! You can see the talent of Melissa Levander in the 1920's Spanish style home. It's gorgeous!

Fun pops of color and a lighthearted approach to decorating are apparent in the lovely home of Kristen Bell. Each room was designed around a signature element with sleek lines and feminine pieces.
