illustrations

I know, a lot of Kate this week.. but seriously- how cute is this 2010 agenda? Between adoring Anniechovies work, and seeing this collaboration with Bella Foster, I'm realizing I have a new crush. Watercolors + illustrations. I remember that {eons ago} when I was still in school, and very passionate about art, watercolors were my favorite medium. Hmm. Might have to rekindle that relationship. Along with ordering Ann's prints for Christmas gifts {me included :)} and finding a way to get my hands on this calendar. ( That's the little problem when stores don't ship to Canada.) Anyway, I'll figure out something!

An 18 month renovation that stemmed back 6 years as Paul Rogers got to know his home. Paul says you need to live in the house, see how the light moves through it, understand the flow and then you can begin to improve upon it - I'd have to agree, it's beautiful with it's re purposed woods, bold vibrant colors and really great additions ( like the banister ).

projects 1 through 6

Here's my thought..if I document it - it's more likely to get done!

This weekends to do list-

1. hang mirror - done!
2. finish closet clean out/organizing (master done + hall)
3. buy electrical supplies so electrician can start on basement next week :)
4. pick paint color & light fixture for master bath
5. find 3x5 pottery barn rug to put in bath, it's downstairs somewhere
6. look for dark woven blind to replace blind in kitchen (ikea maybe?)

That's not bad!! Enjoy your weekend. xo

basement planning

oh dear. all I can think about is basement planning. I am hoping I can convince Kevin this will be perfect in our cozy new room.

project: basement

I have never really been a fan of the whole basement rec room- or whatever you want to call it. Which is why after a year I surprised Kevin by finally being on board with finishing our basement. Here's why. It will give us the opportunity to give the girls a ( pardon my language) kick ass play room + a cozy tv room, and a spot for a desk/ office/ storage for all my paper & stuff. It will take some of the clutter out of all my cupboards, free up an immense amount of space by taking 85% of toys down there, and overall will make me happy because it's a new project! Did I mention the sectional from the living room is going down there..so I get to go sofa shopping. :)

variable, blue

a great contrast the blue makes against the natural fiber wallpaper.
Traditional, modern and contemporary. Nice mix by Jed Johnson.
love the variations of blue in this room designed by Frank Roop. Lush velvets, linens and wool.
great lamp too!

Jonathan Adler of course! Tile carpet, lacquered desk and bamboo chairs.
